The Bolt brothers

In 1987, Terry and Sid Boltwood rented a single lock-up off Alma Street with one toolbox — their dad's — and a name the locals had already given them: the Bolt brothers. The sign writer shortened it. It stuck.

The first ramp came from the auction of a closing bus depot. It's still in Bay 1, it still lifts, and Terry still won't hear a word against it. The toolbox sits in reception, and no, it's not for sale.

Thirty-eight years on we're four ramps, five people and one kettle that never cools down. Sid retired to Filey in 2019; Terry claims he's semi-retired, which means he's here six days a week now. His daughter-in-law will tell you who actually runs the place.
